ARBROATH LABORATORY EXPANSION

It has been announced that an industrial rope laboratory is defying the current economic climate by expanding its Arbroath operation.

TTI Testing Ltd, a subsidiary of Tension Technology International Ltd, has just leased a 3,000 sq ft facility from Angus Council on Arbroath Enterprise Park, a move which will see the firm establishing a world-class laboratory for the testing  of industrial fibre and wire ropes, chains and technical textiles.

The company, a long-term tenant of Angus Council at Arbroath Business Centre, began its search for larger premises earlier in the year when, due to increased demand, the opportunity to invest in new equipment and grow its operation presented itself.  Working closely with the Council’s Economic Development team, two industrial units on the Enterprise Park were quickly identified and lease terms agreed, securing the project for Arbroath.

TTI has spent the last few months fitting out their new base and will be fully operational in the coming weeks.

The move sees occupation of the Council-owned units on Arbroath Enterprise Park reach 100%.

Jeff Nichols of TTI commented on the expansion:  “We are grateful to Angus Council and its Economic Development Unit for their support in setting up our expanded laboratory facility.  We have been able to secure significant new R&D contracts as well as providing enhanced consultancy services  to  our customers.”

Cllr David May, Convener of the Council’s Infrastructure Services committee, said, “To have a new facility that promises to be a leader in its field in such tough times is good news for the area and a real vote of confidence in Arbroath.  Our economic development team are looking forward to working closely with Jeff and his team in future, and I wish them every success in their new venture.”

Any businesses interested in leasing premises from Angus Council can contact Derek Bean or Wilma Peter of the Council’s Economic Development Division on 01307 – 473 284.
