'SIMPLY THE FEST' - HARBOUR VISITOR CENTRE MARKS ITS 2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY AT SEAFEST

This year’s annual Arbroath Seafest, which took place in August, saw several thousand people flock down to Arbroath's historic and picturesque harbour area, the centrepiece of which is the stunning Harbour Visitor Centre.

The Centre, located on the site of the former Gerrard's boatyard, for the first time, was home to two local shops, selling high quality art, soft furnishings, fashion accessories and much, much more.

The Harbour Studio, managed by Pat Renson, has recently expanded from the smaller retail unit at the Centre, into the larger of the two units, allowing the business vital space for expansion and growth.

NEW ENTERPRISE CENTRE FOR BRECHIN
A LANDMARK building on Brechin Business Park is set for a new lease of life with the announcement that it has just been taken over by Enterprise North East Trust (Enterprise) for conversion to a business centre.

The building, which was previously home to the Angus Digital Media Centre, will be re-named Enterprise Business Centre and will provide a range of offices available for lease to individual businesses on flexible terms.

Enterprise and the building’s owners, Angus Council, have been exploring converting the building for such a use since the media centre was wound up last year. After agreement was reached at the end of 2008, the Council undertook a range of improvement works to adapt the building to its new role.

The anchor tenants will be Angus Council themselves, who have leased two offices to house their new team of business advisors. It is hoped that this arrangement will help foster close working relations with Enterprise, who also deliver the Business Gateway service for Angus.

It is expected that the rest of the offices will be available soon, and Enterprise will be holding an open day on Thursday 30 April from 11am – 7pm.

Karen Pugh, director of Property Services at Enterprise, commented: “The new business centre at Brechin will provide a great location as well as outstanding facilities, and it is our intention that it will attract more businesses to the area. We have a range of office sizes available, offering large and small businesses the opportunity to operate within a modern, affordable and productive environment. Having already built up an extensive business property portfolio in the North East, we aim to provide the same high standard office accommodation in the Angus area.”

Councillor David May, the Council’s spokesman for economic development, said: “I am very pleased to see this building put back into such productive use. It’s clear from our engagement with the Angus business community that businesses need all the support they can in the current economic climate. I feel sure that the provision of managed workspace by ENET alongside the support of our own team of business advisers will be tremendous to businesses in Brechin and Angus as a whole.

“The Council will work closely with Enterprise to help the venture succeed.”

Businesses interested in leasing space at the new centre should contact Karen on 01224 289738.
